|MiMi Soya were a pop-rock London-based quartet from 2007-2011. The band consisted of:|Jorja - Vocals|Chris - Guitar|Mike - Bass|Sam - Drums (joined 2011)|Joe - Drums (before 2011)
After Chris (guitarist) left the band in September 2011, the band went on hiatus. In November 2011, the band annouced on their Facebook page:|“…MiMi Soya is no more. But myself, Mike and Sam and our new guitarist ‘Nick’ are forming something a lot more special. More honest and with more heart.|We have a new name and new songs, we are currently writing and recording demos and getting prepared for a very busy 2012.”
On the 1st February 2012 the band announced their new band Fairfield. With Jorja & Mike from MiMi Soya, and Sam & Nick from Exit Venue.
Formed whilst all living in Brighton, in 2008 they were signed to LAB Records (Pegasus Bridge, Not Advised) and it was all up from there. Just 4 day after finding their front woman Jorja, the band then went on a successful ten-date UK tour with other LAB acts.
The four-strong band supported some big names in their career, including Set Your Goals, Go:Audio, Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly, Newton Faulkner and Cobra Starship.
Highlights also include when they played at Wembley Stadium for a crowd of 30,000 for the Nike Human Race, following acts such as Moby and Pendulum. Another was in May 2009, when they completed a UK sell-out tour with US bands Cobra Starship, Sing it Loud and Cash Cash.
The band has toured Europe several times, gaining a huge following and playing some sold out shows with Dutch bands Destine and MakeBelieve. They also joined Hadouken at Dutch festival BreakFest.
Their success in Holland made it the perfect place to shoot their video for “I Told You So” which was named Kerrang!’s Video of the Week, and was played frequently each day on the TV channel.
Kerrang! showed love for MiMi Soya previously, when Kerrang! Radio DJ Alex Baker liked what he heard and gave their single “Doctor Doctor” a great deal of playtime last year.
The band’s last EP (released 2010) “I Can’t Stand Pop Bands” sold over 4000 copies.
Chris (guitarist) left the band in September 2011.
