Hailing from Dublin and now residing in Berlin, Nina Hynes has been making music since she was seven. Along with her band ‘The Husbands’ – Ivan Birthistle, Peter Cheevers and most recently the French musician and sound engineer, Fabien Leseure she has been creating a unique sound that can be classified as atmospheric and dreamy indie pop. Her first foray into music started when she used to collect the tapes of bleeps from the heart machines in a hospital where her auntie worked and would record herself singing over the bleeps. It was around this time that she started to learn the piano and shortly after she wrote her first song ‘Big Woman’. Since then, she has learnt the guitar and her shows often incorporate live-layering and sampling using guitar pedals and spoons as well as incorporating costumes and visuals edited live to the music. She studied sound engineering and music technology at college and now writes songs and music on guitar, piano, harp, computer or whatever instrument is lying around. She has toured extensively and been involved in many bands, instrumental, experimental, acoustic, electronic and electro rock |
