1. Formed in 1985, this Mexican group originally consisted of sisters Isabel Lascurain and Mayte Lascurain and their cousin, Fernanda Meade. Meade left the group in May 1989 to pursue a solo career but returned in 1997. During her absence, Liliana Aboroa was the group’s third member. The group’s first single, “¿Cómo Te Va Mi Amor?,” became a huge hit, reaching No. 1 throughout Latin America. The group continued to score hits for the next decade; in the United States, Pandora placed 10 singles in the Top 10 on the “Billboard” Hot Latin Tracks chart. “Desde el Dia Que Te Fuiste,” a Spanish-language version of Nilsson’s “Without You,” reached No. 1 in the United States in 1992. Although known for its pop style, the group also has recorded more traditional Mexican sounds: A 1991 Juan Gabriel tribute, “Con Amor Eterno,” was a critical and commercial smash. In recent years, the group has kept a lower profile, though they appeared on Mijares’ platinum-selling 2009 disc “Vivir Asi,” performing on the track “Para Ti Yo Estoy.” The cut also features vocals from Daniela Romo; in the 1980s, Mijares, Romo and Pandora were among the biggest-selling acts on the EMI roster.
