In 1996, she moved back to Salvador and played in various garage bands. She was vocalist of the hardcore band Inkoma, and released several albums with the band. When Inkoma broke up, she was invited by producer Rafael Ramos to record her first solo album, Admirável Chip Novo, which was released in 2003. Amirável Chip Novo sold more than 250,000 copies, being certified Platinum. The singles “Máscara”, “Admirável Chip Novo” and “Teto de Vidro” were successful in Brazil, and “Equalize” hit number one. The album title was inspired by Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World (translated to Portuguese as “Admirável Mundo Novo”). After Admirável Chip Novo, the expectations for Pitty’s second album were high. Her second album, Anacrônico is heavier and more daring than its predecessor. It sold more than 150,000 (Platinum). During an interview around the release of her second album, Pitty and her band said that they had listened to too much Queens of the Stone Age while recording the album. The influence is clear, especially in the heavy and slow songs, “lightly and tireless feeling of Josh Homme stand in air”. Her biggest hits are “Admirável Chip Novo”, “Equalize”, “Máscara”, “Memórias”, “Na Sua Estante” and “Pulsos”. |
