A self taught guitarist and singer/songwriter, Sophie began singing lessons when she was just eleven, making her onstage debut at twelve. By fifteen, Sophie was being chaperoned to pubs by her father, where she performed with her brother’s band to rapturous punters who couldn’t quite believe this slip of a girl was harbouring such a soulful, emotive voice. Her nineteenth year saw Sophie fly away to London. It was there that the difficulties of her chosen profession became reality. Hosting and performing in local open mic nights, Sophie began writing in earnest, developing her music, and sound, and becoming familiar with the recording process. Despite her experience, Sophie knew she had a lot to learn as an artist. Unsure of what her next step would be, her future was decided when Australian Idol talent scouts stumbled upon her performing in London’s Notting Hill. Back in Melbourne, Sophie has picked up her guitar and is working on getting her songs ready for release. She has reached out to musicians who knew both the real her, and the honest, original music that reveals her and plans to start gigging early next year.
