The Golden Greys are a band from Seattle whose dreamy, garage, pop showcases jangly guitars, melodic bass lines, and dynamic drumming propelling poignant lyrics full of imagery and wonder. Singer songwriter Mich Congdon and drummer Darren Schoen previously played together in High Page Delay. After reforming as the Golden Greys they went in to the studio and with the help of producer Javier Garavito they completed their first full-length album, Hold Up the Vanguard. They were joined in the summer of 2008 by Daniel Davis on bass, and early 2009 by Peg Wood (formally of Ms. Led) on lead guitar. Since then they have been playing shows to enthusiastic crowds around the Seattle area, while Hold Up the Vanguard has received modest airplay from college radio stations across the country. The seamless blend of Americana inspired songwriting, reverberating guitars, and a rhythm section reminiscent of 80s’ and 90s’ Brit pop are the unlikely components of playful and endearing songs about ghosts, angels, clouds, and longing. |
