Alessi's Ark is the musical project of Alessi Laurent-Marke, she grew up in Hammersmith London and first came into the music when her mother gave her a copy of Graham Nash's 1971 album "Songs for Beginners' She began playing at age 11 when her secondary school required students to develop an instrument that she decided drumsHer drum teacher played locally in various bands and through this she began to come to see various bands live with her father sometimes goes to as many as four shows a week This caused her to start their own fanzines called Brain Bulletin (which is now continuing in the form of a blog on their website) where she wrote about her favorite books, tapes and films inspired by a family friend in New York who wrote a fanzine called The Curse, she distributescoated ITvid concerts by a local record shop and a laundry service at Shepherd's Bush Road As part of the courses for her music GCSE, she had to compose music and lyrics to a song by the basic chords, she had learned lurking around on his sister's guitar and "the combination of poetry and stories I had written for my fanzine" she composed the song Glendora (who finished in her debut album) as her music teacher encouraged her to sing at school assembly discover a new passion for writing and performing, she left school to exercise music at the age of 16 despite support from her parents, she promised them she would return to school after a year unless it was of itDuring This time, she quickly gained a following med her demo posted on her MySpace and self-released an EP called Bedroom Bound that she sold through her site (her record company Zooey) To avoid confusion with the music act for Alessi Brothers her mother suggested calling himself Alessi's Ark: "I liked the idea of a boat where everyone is welcome with friends who are geographically far away - we are together "Representatives from the record label Heavenly Records and EMI soon saw her perform and offered her a business face their 17th birthday, she signed to EMI Mike Mogis Professional reviews worked with Alessi and she went to Nebraska to record the album at Mogis Professional reviews and Conor Oberst's studio in Omaha The resulting album Notes From The Treehouse was released in May 2009 featuring the full band versions of some of the songs from hennes Bedroom Bound EP as well as newer compositions that dog and Hummingbird album featured many musicians who inspired her to start making music with Jake Bellows of Neva Dinova and Nate Walcott of Bright Eyes after the launch of the album Alessi's Ark continues to play live across the UK and also played support to a variety of artists such as Robyn Hitchcock Mariee Sioux Johnny Flynn Emilíana Torrini and Cerys Matthews, as well as plays on Neil Young's Hyde Park show in London in June, Riverside Studios in Hammersmith also hosted an exhibition of her drawings inspired by her songs called Handmade which lasted from August 20 to September 27, 2009 Alessi working on a new EP of songs that can be självförsörtion is released in early 2010 and will turneraTyskland with Jake Bellows in December and the Sons of Noel and Adrian, in January
