Superstar Quamallah is from Brooklyn, New York. His father (R.I.P. Big John Patton) helped to pioneer the soul-jazz music genre. SQ plays the drum machine like an instrument without the sequence/metronome/record feature. This gives the music an organic, soulful touch that he used to make the album, “Godfood: The break-fast”. His lyrics are simply honest. He currently teach courses at u.c. Berkeley in the african american studies dept. on “hiphop culture and media appropriation”. He also write screenplays with the assistance of his writing coach Carla Wilson. Superstar Quamallah is also engaged in film projects with his brother and outstanding director, Troy Warwell. |
